Sheraton Imperial Hotel
If you are a reborn doll artist or collector living in the southeast, you'll want to mark your calenders for the upcoming 2013 Down East Doll Show & Conference. I've been to dozens of shows over the years, but this has to be one of my personal favorite. You'll not only have the opportunity to meet some of the most skillful, talented artists in the world, but you'll likely make some new friends along the way. And that's what reborn doll shows are really all about...
When Is It?
This year, the Down East Doll Show & Conference will take place on June 19-23. However, it's only open to the public on the 21st and 22nd (falls on a Friday and Saturday). The other days are used by event organizers and booth operators to setup and prepare.
Where Is It?
You'll find the Down East Doll Show & Conference at the beautiful Sheraton Imperial Hotel and Convention Center -- 4700 Emperor Blvd, Durham, NC. It should be too difficult to find, as it's the huge hotel with an equally big sign that says "Sheraton Imperial Hotel." If for whatever reason you are unable to find it, feel free to give their staff a call at 1-800-325-3535. They'll be more than happy to offer you directions to reach the hotel.
Since the show takes place at a hotel (a nice hotel for that matter), it's a good idea for out-of-towners to go ahead and book a room. Be sure to do it in advance, though, or you run the risk of scrambling to find a vacancy elsewhere when the hotel is booked.
What To Expect
Unless you went to the previous show last year, you might be wondering what the Down East Doll Show & Conference is like. Well, there's no way of predicting the future (wouldn't that be nice?), but if it was anything like the 2012 show, I think we're all in for a real treat.
The 2013 Down East Doll Show & Conference will feature dozens of booths and tables setup by some of the most prolific reborn doll artists in the industry. You can visit these booths to browse, shop, ask questions, or to simply introduce yourself. Of course, the show will also feature lessons, contests, charity raffles and much more. If you live in or around the the North Carolina area, be sure to check this show out!
