Setting Up a Reborn Doll Nursery

Setting up and decorating a nursery for your reborn doll collection can be a difficult task. Not only do you have to find an unused room in your home that you can dedicate to the nursery (which is hard enough for most people), but you also have to fill it with all the essential items that go along with it. If you fail to decorate it properly, the entire atmosphere will be thrown off and it simply won’t look like a traditional nursery, which is something every reborn owner should try to avoid. Thankfully, achieving an attractive and functional nursery can be done as long as you are willing to invest some of your time and energy into it.

Reborn Nursery

Before we start, it’s important to note that not everyone is going to be able to dedicate an entire room to a reborn doll nursery. If you’re like most people, free space is hard to come by in the home. It seems like no matter how big of a house you “upgrade” to, there’s just not enough room for all of your belongings. Don’t worry, though, as you can still set up a proper reborn nursery to take photos or just show off your dolls with limited space.

If you have an extra bedroom that’s not being used or only has a few “extra” items and furniture in it, you should try to clear it out for your reborn nursery. On the other hand, if you don’t have the luxury to dedicate an entire room for a nursery, you can clear out space in a storage or bonus room and use it for one. While having an entire room is usually preferred by most collectors and artists, there’s absolutely nothing room with using part of a room.

Where To Start

If you’ve never set up a reborn doll nursery before, you might not know where to start. Even after you’ve cleared out an area for the nursery in your home, it’s easy to feel lost and confused. Some collectors and artists have particular methods for setting up their nurseries, but I’ve found that the easiest way to approach a new nursery is to add your large items first and then work on the smaller ones. This will allow you to see just how exactly the large items look with the current style and decor in your home without any sudden changes.

Just what types of large items should you add to your reborn doll nursery? It should go without saying that the crib is going to be the main focal point for most nurseries, so place it in the area you think it will look the best first. Remember, you want people to easily see your reborn dolls when they walk into the nursery. In order to accomplish this, the crib must be set up in a position that’s highly visible upon entering the room. Depending on how the nursery room is structured, you can oftentimes set the crib up on the opposite side of the door facing outwards, as this will make your reborns easily visible.

After you’ve set up the crib, you should start adding other large items in the nursery. Ultimately, the items you choose to use in the nursery is a personal decision that only you can make. If you think something will look attractive or add functionality to the nursery, go ahead and use it. Some of the other large items that you may want to add to your reborn nursery are rocking chairs, storage bins, trunks and day beds just to name a few.

Other Items To Use in The Nursery

In addition to a crib, day bed and all the other necessary furniture, you should consider adding some of the following items to your reborn doll nursery:

  • Blankets
  • Pacifiers
  • Extra clothes
  • Stuffed animals and toys
  • Children’s books
  • Framed photos of your reborn
  • Mobile over the crib
  • Vinyl wall decals

Choose a Theme

If you want to achieve an attractive reborn nursery, you have to approach it like you would an actual baby’s nursery. Don’t just toss your reborns into a crib and call it a day. Instead, take your time to come up with a theme and stick with it. For instance, a nursery for a boy reborn may benefit from the use of a baby blue elephant theme or even a cowboy theme. On the other hand, a nursery for a girl reborn will likely benefit more from a princess or butterfly theme.

There’s really no wrong choice when it comes to a theme. As long as you choose a general topic or category that flows with your reborn dolls, it will help create a more attractive nursery. Have fun and don’t be afraid to choose a theme that no one else has for your reborn’s nursery. After all, that’s one of the most enjoyable aspects of owning a reborn.

The secret to creating an attractive reborn nursery is to treat it like you would for a real baby. Newcomers to the hobby are stuck in the mindset that reborns are toys; and as such, they forget what the hobby is all about. Reborns are created with the primary goal of looking as realistic as possible. You can add to the overall realism by setting up their nursery with real newborn baby items and elements. Think about what a real baby’s nursery (see references below) looks like and try to recreate it for your reborns.

I just got a reborn two days ago I had to put the little girl in a laundry basket covered in baby blankets as far as a room goes I live in a two bedroom apartment the second one belongs to my son since he pays rent for it. So I had to use half of my room for a nursery and the other half as my room

I will be getting my first reborn doll next week. I already picked out a name and organized her room. What I did was I cleared out my dresser and the stuff beside it. Then I used this cute little wagon and put some wash cloths in it. I got her a stuffed animal, books, a high chair, a changing pad, diapers, a doll potty, lots of clothing, and a diaper bag. The space is pretty small, only about 3 x 3 feet in size, though, It is butterfly themed and adorable.
